Introducing a personalized, new way to support your free community computer lab: the Austin Free-Net Adopt-a-Computer program!
For less than a dollar a day you can Adopt-a-Computer at The DeWitty Center. Your support will keep your adopted computer on-line and available to the public to search for jobs, learn new skills and communicate with family and friends worldwide for FREE. Programs available for our clients at The DeWitty Center include: MS-Office, typing tutorials, Reading Companion, Internet browsers, Instructor-led classes and so much more.
For Individuals and Families
Dedicate a computer to a loved one with a desktop screen respectfully decorated in memory or celebration of a friend, family member or beloved pet. You may personalize the desktop with two images of your choosing. We encourage you to utilize the narrative dedication (up to 500 words) space to share with our clients a little about your loved one.
Adopters are encouraged to visit their actual computer in The DeWitty Center to see the dedication in action. Quarterly, Austin Free-Net will send you a card indicating how many clients have utilized your sponsored computer. And, your name will be added to the website as a sponsor of this dedication program, should you wish it.
For Businesses and Organizations
Computers are available for businesses to adopt as well. We offer two levels of adoption and both levels come with the added option of direct shared links.
The History Level offers businesses a computer system which is named for a historical figure that shaped modern computing or someone who has helped community members receive computer access and training. Each large computer monitor features a customized desktop wallpaper featuring a space for your businesses information. Prominently located in the center is an area designed to contain your business logo and direct link to your website.
Ownership Level allows your business to utilize the homepage in its entirety. This level’s homepage creation will be based on your business needs and will contain links to your website and other information you wish to share about your business.
As an adopter at any level you will receive a quarterly report from us indicating the number of clients who used your adopted computer system. You also will be listed on austinfree.net as a program sponsor (unless you wish to remain anonymous).
