Local Bloggers Support Austin Free-Net

April 28, 2012 was an exciting day for Austin’s bloggers (writers or groups of writers who
write about their own experiences, observations, opinions on websites) thanks to #BlogathonATX.

BlogathonNow in their fourth year, #BlogathonATX http://www.blogathonatx.com brought together bloggers, social media experts and writers for a day filled with education, networking, food and of course, blogging.  The sold-out blog-a-thon selected Austin Free-Net as the charity of choice for the event.  A portion of the proceeds benefited Austin Free-Net and our mission to provide computer classes and Internet access to Austin’s community.

First-time bloggers sat side-by-side with experienced bloggers as they attended informational sessions. Blogging professionals hosted question and answer sessions on topics ranging from branding and WordPress to blog maintenance and blogging for business. Sponsors provided excellent food all day.  The event was graciously hosted by Tech Ranch Austin http://www.techranchaustin.com.Blogathon sign

Austin Free-Net Communications Director Sheena Harden was in attendance.  She said of her experience, “It was a great way to network.  This forum let new, influential bloggers learn about Austin Free-Net.  It was great to learn new ways to share information with our readers.  Plus, the food was outstanding!”
